You only get one chance to attend your senior prom, so plan to make it the best night of your high school life! Start by going with someone fun; whether it be a boy, a girl or a group of friends.
Once you know you are going, it’s time to say “YES” to the dress. Some girls like short, some like sequins, and others prefer the trendy two-piece look. For me, I felt like being a princess for a night in a tulle ball gown by Jovani. But no matter what you want, one of the best go-to places for a prom dress is Soignee Elegant Attire. Diane and her staff are so helpful and they will not only ensure that you are the only girl at your school in your dress, they also have a huge selection to choose from. Also, don’t forget to get your dress early in order to give yourself time to have it hemmed or tailored.
Below is my Perfect Prom Countdown to a night you will always remember:
High School boys can always use help with choosing a style. It can be fun to take a boy shopping and give your “expert” opinion. The Staff at Denver Tux in Lakewood can give you expert advice on what is on trend for Prom 2018 and make sure you walk out of there lookin and feelin fly. And if the guys want to have some fun with their outfit, there is nothing wrong with pairing converse with a tux!
If your date needs tips on purchasing the perfect corsage, tell him or her to look no further than Babylon Floral. And, if you want to give him something in return, I am going to suggest a hip pair of socks from Decades on S. Broadway.
Don’t make the mistake of over-accessorizing! A small pair of sparkly, dangle earrings or a faux diamond bracelet can go a long way in completing your look.
Shoes. If you are like me, nothing feels better than buying a cool pair of very high heels, like these rose gold strappy sandals from Angels in the Denver Pavillions. However, I also understand that many of you will get about 15 minutes into wearing them and determine you are done But don’t worry, there are several other cute options that are stylish and will allow you to dance the night away. Try a pair of metallic tennis shoes, and I guarantee your feet will thank you.
Colorado weather can be very fickle, especially in April and May. If your dress is strapless, you might want to consider a fun jacket for stepping out to dinner. I chose to go outside-of-the-box with this super cute, fur-trimmed jean jacket from Hailee and Grace. And once prom is over, it will look even cuter with a pair of skinny jeans at the after-prom bash.
Book your hair/makeup/mani/pedi appointments for the day of prom. Also, go into the appointment with a few magazine pics of styles you like. The girls at Glamour Bar are great with all things “glamorous” and will ensure that you walk out of there looking like a movie star!
Do not try and take your school backpack full of beauty products to the prom! You will need a small evening bag. I shopped around for a purse that would fit my prom budget and found the perfect one at Rag’s Consignment store in Cherry Creek. This little gold and silver bag fit all of my essentials: Phone, tickets to prom, gum, credit card, money and a few quick beauty pick me ups, like lipstick, blush and hydration mist. And for a more casual feel, this envelope clutch from Velvet Wolf complimented my jean jacket perfectly!
A few last minute details: Book your restaurant in advance. If you are taking a limo, book that too. If you are white as a ghost, maybe consider a spray tan. And if you need any help or have any questions, message me on Instagram. Have a great Prom!
